Turkey saw Sunday, May 28, an unprecedented day of voting for this second round of the presidential election, opposing Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the opposition candidate, Kemal Kiliçdaroglu. The outgoing president, who came out ahead in the first round, is well placed to win. 

Outgoing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan seems well on his way to another victory at the head of Turkey on the evening of the second round of the presidential election. President Erdogan is still ahead of opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in the second round of the presidential election, according to 82% of the ballots.

According to these data, Erdogan gets 53.4% of the vote, Kilicdaroglu – 46.6%.

The current Turkish president is leading, in particular, in Ankara and in the regions affected by the strong earthquake that occurred in February this year.

Voting in the second round of presidential elections in Turkey officially ended at 05:00 PM local time.

In the first round of the presidential election, Recep Tayyip Erdogan won 49.52% of the vote, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu – 44.88%. To win the elections in the first round, it was necessary to gain more than 50% of the vote. The leader of the right-wing Father’s Coalition party, Sinan Ogan, who won 5.17% in the first round, urged his supporters to vote for Mr. Erdogan.

64.1 million voters registered to participate in the second round.
