Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow this morning for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Hungary.

Prior to that, on July 2, Viktor Orban arrived in Kyiv. During a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, he invited him to consider the possibility of a ceasefire before peace talks. The office of the President of Ukraine later reported that Volodymyr Zelensky listened to Viktor Orban’s proposal and in response outlined Kyiv’s position, according to which the country seeks peace through peace summits. Yesterday, July 4, Vladimir Putin said that the end of the conflict with Ukraine through intermediaries is unlikely.
During the visit, he said that the issue of a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict will be the most important during the six months of Hungary’s presidency of the EU Council. According to Orban, he would also like to take advantage of the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the situation with the “Hungarian minority” living in the country in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. Orban is called Moscow’s ally in the EU in the West.
