Russia has banned the entry of 13 Japanese citizens in response to the imposed sanctions, reported the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of the response to Japan’s ongoing sanctions against our country in connection with a special military operation, a decision was made to indefinitely ban Japanese citizens from entering the Russian Federation,” announced the statement.

The presidents of a number of Japanese companies, including Musashi Fuso, Shinsei Bussan Co., Shinwa, Nikken Co. and Koshin ltd., have been banned from entering the Russian territory.

The full list of sanctioned Japanese citizens is :

1. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency;

2. Mikitani Hiroshi, founder of RAKUTEN Corporation;

3. Fukuhara Teruhiko, President of Musashi Fuso;

4. Iwamatsu Seigo, President of Shinsei Bussan Co.;

5. Tanaka Hiroaki, President of Shinwa;

6. Takeuchi Ikuo, President of Toyobo Co.;

7. Oya Mitsuo, President of Toray Industries;

8. Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Board of Toyota Motor;

9. Amemiya Makoto, President of Nikken Co.;

10. Saito Mitsuru, President of Saito Seisakusho Co.;

11. Morooka Noboru, President of Morooka Co.;

12. Yoshinaga Takanori, President of Denyo Co.;

13. Kohara Eiichi, President of Koshin ltd.

In June, Japan imposed sanctions against 11 Russians and 42 organizations from Russia. The blacklist includes the Secretary of the CEC of Russia Natalia Budarina and five other members of the commission. Sanctions were also imposed on Boris Obnosov, CEO of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, Andrey Khokhlun, head of Microtech, and others.

Among the companies that fell under the Japanese restrictive measures are Alrosa, Uraltransmash and Tupolev JSC. In addition, the sanctions affected 11 foreign companies from India, Kazakhstan, China and the UAE. Most of the enterprises on Japan’s new blacklist are Chinese.

In early July 2024, in Japan, as reported by NHK and Nikkei, a Russian was detained for the first time, who is suspected of illegally exporting dual-use goods to Russia. Both publications called the detainee a representative of the Astrade trading company from Osaka.
