Turkey can enter Israel, “just as it once entered Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh,” said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on July 28. He also noted that “there is no reason why we should not do this.” The words of the Turkish president are reported by the Turkish media Al Ain Trke. The Turkish president support the Palestinians against Israel.

Erdogan referred to Israel as an “occupier,” a “war criminal,” and “a pawn in the region”. He also called Hamas “not a terrorist organization,” which has angered Israel.

The Turkish president emphasized the need for strength to prevent Israel’s actions against Palestinians, stating, “We must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these things to Palestine”.

In addition, during Mr. Erdogan’s speech at a meeting held at the headquarters of his party in the province of Rize, he said that the head of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, did not respond to the proposal of the Turkish side to speak in the parliament of the republic. Earlier, the Turkish president also called on the head of Palestine to apologize for ignoring Ankara’s initiative.

In 2020, Turkey supported Azerbaijan and condemned Armenia’s actions in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev then announced a “joint peacekeeping mission of Russia and Turkey.” Russia reported that only Russian peacekeepers will be in Karabakh, and interaction with Turkey will take place within the framework of a monitoring center on the territory of Azerbaijan. In November 2023, the Turkish parliament extended for a year the mission of the republic’s armed forces in Azerbaijan, which monitor the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone.
