The Russian President Vladimir Putin, together with Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and Commander-in-Chief of the Navy (Navy) Alexander Moiseev, hosted the Navy parade today, July 28, in Saint- Petersburg, on the Russian Navy Day.

Congratulations on participating in the celebration of the Day of the Navy … We always celebrate this holiday solemnly, with respect and love for the glorious fleet, with pride in our country – a maritime power,” said Vladimir Putin. The Russian president said in his speech that if the United States deploys weapons in Germany, then Russia will consider itself free from a moratorium on the deployment of its own.

The parade began at 11:00 with a volley of battery guns in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The parade ended at about 12:00.

The commander of the naval forces of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Zhongming, attended the naval parade in St. Petersburg. Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart.

20 surface ships and boats, 4 sailing vessels and 1 submarine are involved in the event. For display, they are placed in the water area of the Neva. The event is also attended by 2,500 military personnel.

The Russian Navy, officially known as the Russian Federation Navy, is a significant component of Russia’s armed forces. As of 2023, the Russian Navy has approximately 160,000 active duty personnel. The fleet consists of around 370 active ships.
