Today, July 30, in the evening, an Israeli drone fired three missiles at a house located in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The target of the attack was the commander who was blamed by the Israeli army for the strike on the Golan Heights on July 27.
The strike on the suburbs of Beirut was reported by the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The press service post did not specify exactly how the strike was carried out, but it is reported that its target was “the commander responsible for the killing of children in Majdal Shams.” The Associated Press, citing the National News Agency of Lebanon, reports that the IDF attacked the suburbs of Beirut with a drone that fired three missiles.
“The strike was carried out on the area of the location of the Bahman hospital, 100 meters from the headquarters of Hezbollah in the south of the Lebanese capital… Where the rockets fell, several houses were destroyed, parked cars were damaged,” a source told TASS in the administration of the Kharet-Khoreik district. According to Al-Hadath, two people were killed in the impact.
A source close to Hezbollah, who requested anonymity, told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that Fouad Chokr, the targeted military commander, survived the strike.
The Jerusalim Post reported, citing a source, that the target of the strike was a Hezbollah commander. Ynet clarifies that his name is Fuad Shukr, he holds the post of senior adviser to the leader of the group, Hassan Nasrallah. Al-Hadath reports, citing sources, that the commander targeted by the attack survived. Similar data is provided by a Reuters source. According to TASS, the IDF killed two commanders of the group, their names are unknown.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the strike on the territory of Lebanon “a gross violation of international law”. The day before, the media Axios, citing sources, reported that Israel’s intentions to strike Beirut were condemned by the United States. According to the publication’s sources, the American side said in a conversation with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that a strike on Beirut could become a red line and escalate the conflict. Today, July 30, after the strike on Lebanese territory, Yoav Gallant wrote on the social network X that the Hezbollah movement “crossed the red line.”
On July 27, part of the Golan Heights controlled by Israel was subjected to massive shelling from Lebanese territory. One of the shells fell on the football field where the children were. According to the IDF, 12 people aged 10 to 20 were killed in the Golan Heights, more than 40 people were injured. Israel claims that Hezbollah carried out the strikes with Iranian missiles. The movement itself denies involvement in the attacks.
