Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili may pardon former President Mikhail Saakashvili. This was stated by Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, writes the portal Georgian Times.

“Thanks to Mikhail Saakashvili, Salome Zurabishvili remained in his post. The “National Movement” offered Salome Zurabishvili to issue an act of pardon when they consider it necessary and the situation becomes clear,” Papuashvili said.

The speaker of the Georgian parliament recalled that the decision to impeach Zurabishvili, accused of violating the Georgian Constitution, did not pass in parliament in October 2023 thanks to the votes of the United National Movement. This allowed her to remain as president.

According to Papuashvili, if Zurabishvili pardoned the leader of the Akhali party Nika Gvaramia (he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in 2022, in 2023 he was pardoned by the President of Georgia), then pardoning Saakashvili will also not be difficult.

Doctors revealed his spinal injury, the ex-president of Georgia needed surgery. He was president of the country from 2004 to 2013.
