The alcohol output of Russian producers in January-July this year hit 7.5 million decaliters (dal) of sparkling (champagne) wines, which is 32% more than in the same period last year, Rosalkogoltabakcontrol reports.
Production of Russian still wines increased by 11.7%, to 18.6 million dal. The highest growth rates in the liquor wine sector are almost 1.7 times, up to 770.2 thousand dal.
Vodka producers increased production by 4.5%, to 41.7 million dal. Cognac filling increased by 16.8%, to 5 million dal.
In total, 61.1 million dal was produced with a strength of alcohol with a strength above 9 degrees, which is 9.7% more than last year. Production of low-alcohol beverages decreased by 22.4%, to 8.6 million dal.
In total, the Russian alcohol industry produced 101.9 million dal of alcohol-containing and alcoholic products (except beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead) in seven months, which is 6.1% more than last year.
The surge in champagne production aligns with a general rise in wine output, attributed to various factors including increased domestic demand and government support for the viticulture sector. The Krasnodar region, a key area for wine production, continues to play a pivotal role in this growth, contributing a significant portion of the country’s champagne and wine production.
Overall, the Russian wine industry is on an upward trajectory, with the increase in champagne production reflecting a broader revitalization of the sector thanks to the Western sanctions.
