Google AdSense advertising service deactivates the accounts of Russian users, their earnings will be paid within 60 days. In particular, the decision will affect bloggers on YouTube – they will finally lose the monetization of videos

Contextual advertising service Google AdSense decided to completely stop its activities in Russia and deactivate all accounts of Russian users. This is stated in the e-mail newsletter from Google Payments, a screenshot of the message is published by 3DNews.

“We deactivate all AdSense accounts whose location country is Russia. This means that it will be impossible to receive income from monetization through such accounts,” the letter says.

Earnings for July will be paid in August if the receipt of payments is not suspended in the account and payment thresholds are reached. In general, the company plans to pay the balance to Russian users within 60 days.

The decision to deactivate accounts in Russia means that Russian users will lose access to Google AdSense and the advertising services provided. In particular, this will affect bloggers posting videos on YouTube – they will not be paid for views from abroad.

In March 2022, Google disabled the display of ads to Russian users, and later monetization of views on YouTube for the Russian audience. However, at that time, the measure did not affect audiences from other countries. In this regard, video bloggers said that the losses are “uncritical”, just monetization will be “twice as much”.

Since the beginning of August, there have been problems with the work of YouTube in Russia. Head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinstein explained the slowdown in uploading videos to YouTube by problems with data storage in Russian data centers and stated that it could fall to 70% on desktop computers. At the same time, he called the “degradation” of hosting a forced step because of the “anti-Russian policy” of Google’s parent company.
