The accident involving two French military aircraft occurred around noon in Meurthe and Moselle, a department in northeastern France, reported Le Figaro.
According to the regional newspaper L’Est Républicain, two Mirage 2000 aircraft were involved in the accident. The accident occurred in the area of Colombie-le-Belle, a commune on the border with the Vosges department.
The planes could have arrived from the 133rd Ochi Air Base, located nearby.
The pilot of one aircraft ejected before impact. He is safe and sound. But the instructor and the student pilot who were in the second were still missing in the early afternoon. “We are still looking for the second crew,” added the general staff.
Le Parisien writes that the department’s operations center is involved in supporting the armed forces in conducting search operations. He recommends avoiding this sector and following the instructions of the authorities. No casualties have been reported, but it is known that efforts to find the pilots are already underway.
