Since August 2023 Russia has issued electronic visas to 540,900 foreigners, according to the data of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Most often, Russian e-visas are issued by Chinese citizens (254,200 visas per year). In second place is Saudi Arabia, with 43,400 Russian e-visas issued to its citizens. Germany closes the top three with 42,600 Russian e-visas. They are followed by Turkey and Estonia – 32,800 and 28,600 visas, respectively. The top ten countries also included India, Latvia, Iran, Kuwait and Lithuania.
The Russian electronic visa is most often issued to foreign tourists – in about 80-90% of cases. Among Chinese citizens, about 50% apply for an electronic visa for tourism, the same number for business purposes. At the same time, citizens of Saudi Arabia in 100% of cases enter Russia for the purpose of tourism. Residents of Germany and Estonia in most cases enter for personal purposes – for work or to visit relatives.

On August 1 last year, Russia began issuing electronic visas to foreigners. Such a visa gives the right to a single entry to Russia on a guest or business visit, as a tourist, as well as to participate in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, and sports events. The visa processing time is no more than four days. The visa will be valid for 60 days from the date of issuance, with it you can stay in Russia for 16 days. The procedure is fully online.
Citizens of 55 foreign countries can obtain an electronic visa to enter the Russian Federation through border checkpoints.
