The platform for notes, lists and tables will close the accounts of Russian users from September 9, as a result of U.S. sanctions in the field of computer software.

Notion, a service for creating notes and databases, will leave Russia on September 9, according to its website. The company said that this is due to US sanctions, which prohibit access from Russia to certain software.

From this date, the platform will close the workspaces of users who are in Russia and prohibit access to the service’s capabilities from the territory of the country.

“Affected users will be able to access their workspaces until September 8, 2024. On September 9, 2024, workspaces will no longer be available,” the company said.

Washington imposed restrictive measures in the IT sector against Russia in mid-June. The United States has decided to prohibit the provision of IT consulting and design services, IT support services and cloud services for enterprise management software, as well as design and manufacturing software to any person in Russia.

Notion was launched in 2016. In it, you can write notes, create task boards, tables, databases, and find templates for projects and tasks. It also allows you to share pages with other users, allowing you to collaborate on them. The application also has artificial intelligence, which can give hints and help with the formation of a list of tasks.
