The U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his public feud with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, labeling him a “dictator” in a series of inflammatory remarks. This escalation follows Zelensky’s accusation that Trump is engaging in Russian disinformation regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized Zelensky’s leadership, stating, “Zelensky better move fast or he might not have a nation left,” while asserting that millions have died needlessly under his watch. Trump’s comments came after Zelensky expressed concerns about being excluded from U.S.-Russia peace negotiations and suggested that Trump was operating within a “disinformation space” created by Moscow.

Trump’s remarks also included claims that Zelensky had misled the U.S. into providing excessive financial support for a war he deemed unwinnable. He stated, “A Dictator without Elections,” implying that Zelensky’s failure to hold elections during wartime reflects poorly on his legitimacy as a leader. This statement aligns with narratives previously promoted by the Kremlin, questioning Zelensky’s authority due to postponed elections amid martial law.
The exchange of barbs marks a significant shift in Trump’s stance towards Ukraine, which has traditionally enjoyed strong support from Obama and Biden administrations. Critics of Trump’s comments argue that they undermine the Ukrainian leader at a critical moment in the conflict and could embolden Russian narratives.
