The Philippines launches this month a Digital Nomad Visa program, effective from late June 2025, allowing foreign remote workers to live and work in the country for up to one year, with the possibility of a one-year renewal, totaling a maximum stay of two years.
President Bongbong Marcos announced the upcoming programme and authorized issuing these new visas at the end of June :
“To further boost tourism and economy in the country, there is a need to establish a legal framework to facilitate the entry of digital nomads in the country, or foreign nationals who desire to temporarily stay in the Philippines while engaging in remote work activities for overseas employers or clients,” he said.
Key Requirements for the Philippines Digital Nomad Visa:
Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Proof of Remote Work: Must demonstrate that they work remotely using digital technology for employers or clients outside the Philippines. Evidence can include employment contracts, letters from employers, or proof of regular payments by customers, company registration documentation.
Sufficient Income: Applicants need to show proof of adequate income sourced from outside the Philippines to support themselves during their stay. While no fixed minimum income is specified, financial stability is expected.
Clean Criminal Record: A recent criminal record certificate from the applicant’s country of origin, properly legalized or apostilled, is required to ensure no security risk.
Health Insurance: Valid international health insurance covering medical emergencies, hospitalization, repatriation, and other unforeseen expenses for the entire duration of the visa is mandatory.
Security and Employment Restrictions: Applicants must not pose any internal or external security risks and must not be employed by or within the Philippines at the time of application.

Nationality: Open to nationals of countries that offer reciprocal digital nomad visa privileges to Filipinos and where the Philippines maintains a Foreign Service Post.
Additional Details:
This Digital nomad visa allows multiple entries during its validity, providing flexibility for travel in and out of the Philippines.
Holders of this visa are not considered tax residents and will only pay taxes at the source, not local Philippine taxes.

The application process can be done online via official government portals or in person at Philippine embassies or consulates.
The visa is intended to boost tourism and the economy by attracting remote workers with overseas employers.
The Philippines Digital Nomad Visa offers a legal framework for remote workers to reside in the country for up to two years, provided they meet age, income, employment, security, and health insurance requirements, with an emphasis on income sourced from abroad and no local employment. This new program strengthens Southeast Asia as a key region for digital nomads, with Bali (Indonesia), Thailand, Vietnam and now the Philippines.
