On June 13-14, Israel launched a major military operation named “Operation Rising Lion,” striking more than a dozen targets across Iran, including key nuclear sites, military installations, and critical energy infrastructure. The Israeli airstrikes hit locations in Tehran, Natanz, Khondab, Khorramabad, and other areas, killing several senior Iranian military leaders such as IRGC commander Hossein Salami and top nuclear scientists.

The attacks caused significant explosions and fires, including at Iran’s giant South Pars gas field’s Phase 14 refinery and the Fajr Jam gas refinery, which halted production of millions of cubic meters of gas. These strikes severely damaged Iran’s nuclear and energy capabilities and led to widespread fires described as “Tehran is burning” by semi-official sources.

In response, Iran launched missile attacks targeting Israeli cities including Haifa and Rishon LeZion, causing casualties and damage. The conflict escalated rapidly, with both sides exchanging fire and Israel warning it would continue its campaign until the Iranian nuclear threat is neutralized. Israeli officials also threatened to strike Iranian infrastructure if Iran targeted Israeli civilian population centers. The strikes have marked the most extensive Israeli attack on Iran since the 1980s Iran-Iraq war and have significantly heightened tensions in the region.
