Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing. Among the topics of the meeting are the dynamics of Russian-Chinese relations, interaction with the United States and the prospect of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

The parties also touched upon the humanitarian component in relations between Russia and China. Both ministers paid special attention to the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Their talks covered several key topics, including the dynamics of Russian-Chinese relations, coordination in dealing with the United States, and prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

“Other “hot” topics were touched upon, including the Iranian-Israeli conflict and the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

The negotiations were held in a trusting and constructive manner. Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi reaffirmed the mutual support of Russia and China on issues of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic cooperation amid significant global changes. Wang Yi emphasized the strong and steady growth of China-Russia relations, highlighting recent high-level communications between Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. They discussed enhancing coordination on international and regional hotspot issues, including the Ukraine conflict, where China maintains a position of neutrality but calls for peace talks and an end to hostilities.

Lavrov and Wang Yi also addressed the importance of safeguarding the security and development interests of both countries and supporting each other’s development and rejuvenation. They agreed on strengthening cooperation within the Asia-Pacific region and the SCO framework, aiming to promote regional stability and development.
