A court in The Hague has lifted the seizure order on Gazprom’s assets in the Netherlands, ending the previous security measure imposed due to claims by two Ukrainian companies, Slavutich-Invest and Zhniva, seeking compensation for losses linked to Russia’s actions in Ukraine. The assets involved were Gazprom’s shares in gas producers Wintershall Noordzee and Gazprom International Projects B.V.
The Dutch court ruled that seizing these assets would violate the principle of state immunity, which under international law prevents Dutch courts from judging the actions of a foreign state or its entities, such as Gazprom. Thus, the seizure was annulled, and the court stopped the confiscation procedure.

Gazprom did not comment on the ruling. This decision reflects the Dutch judiciary’s position that Gazprom, as a Russian state-owned enterprise, is protected under state immunity doctrine in this context;
