More than 460 kg of emeralds, demantoids, jade and souvenirs made of Ural stones have been exported to Asian countries from January. This is 9% more than in the same period in 2024. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
According to the head of the Ural Customs Administration, Alexei Frolov, the supply of emeralds to India increased by 76% year-on-year. In China, jade is in the greatest demand. In six months, 300 kg of this mineral was exported to China.
Since last year, Thailand has begun to import Russian Ural stones. Thailand have been purchasing demantoids (a type of garnet with a brilliant shine) from Russia in the amount of more than 200 million rubles since January.
China traditionally prefers jade, and about 300 kg of Ural jade was shipped to China in the first half of 2025.
