The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with NBC that Moscow is ready to demonstrate flexibility to a certain extent on the topic of the Ukrainian settlement. According to him, US President Donald Trump, after meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, made several proposals, and on some of them the Russian side is ready for compromises.
“On some of them, we agreed… to show some flexibility,” Sergey Lavrov said.
At the same time, he added that despite the efforts of the American side to organize negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, the summit has not yet been scheduled.
“President Putin will be ready to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky when the summit agenda is ready. And it is not ready,” he explained.
“There is no meeting planned” between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, added the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a taped interview for NBC’s Sunday show “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker.”
The day before, U.S newspaper, citing a source, reported that Moscow allegedly does not want to hold a meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and Ukraine at all, as it would provide “a certain legitimization of the Ukrainian political regime by Moscow.”
