Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said in X that he was heading to Miami.

“On the way to Miami. As warmongers struggle to undermine the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine, I remembered this video from my previous trip – light breaking through storm clouds,” he wrote in X in English and attached a fragment of the video.

As a long‑time head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and a political insider, Dmitriev being publicly associated with a peace initiative is meant to signal Kremlin backing for exploratory contacts, even if they are framed as semi‑informal

Earlier, the U.S. newspaper Politico wrote that in Miami it is planned to hold talks between representatives of Russia and the United States regarding the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. The Russian delegation will be headed by Dmitriev.

On the part of the United States, the participation of US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Whitkoff and entrepreneur Jared Kushner, who is also Donald Trump’s son-in-law, is expected.

Trump himself announced his plans to go to Miami.

“We are going to Florida for a short time, mainly for work. We have many meetings planned,” Trump said.

Holding talks in Miami and connecting them to figures like Jared Kushner and a named special envoy suggests a channel closer to President Trump’s political circle than to traditional State Department diplomacy, which may be deliberate if the goal is a made‑for‑politics peace initiative rather than a classic negotiated settlement
