Israel is concentrating airstrikes on Iran’s military‑industrial network to cripple its arms production before a potential ceasefire ends the current war.
Israeli leaders believe time is short because the U.S. President Trump may soon move to wind down the conflict, so they are trying to inflict maximum long‑term damage on Iran’s ability to build weapons.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered the military to use the next roughly 48 hours to hit as much of Iran’s arms manufacturing base as possible before any deal takes effect.
Israel has shifted from striking regime and command targets to systematically attacking Iran’s defense‑industrial chain: missile factories, component makers, fuel‑production sites, storage depots, and related facilities.
IDF officials say they have already hit more than 1,700 assets tied to Iran’s military industry, including large IRGC‑linked firms and smaller subcontractors, and claim Iran’s ballistic‑missile production has been “significantly degraded.”
Nuclear and missile focus
Recent strikes have included research and development sites in Tehran used for both nuclear‑weapons and ballistic‑missile work, such as facilities at Malek‑Ashtar University and IRGC production compounds.

Israel’s stated goals include neutralizing Iran’s ballistic‑missile capabilities, constraining its nuclear program, and using pressure on the arms industry to weaken Iran’s long‑term strategic threat to Israel.
Why the timing matters
Diplomatic efforts, including a U.S.‑drafted ceasefire proposal and emerging U.S.–Iran talks, have convinced Israeli officials that the window for major operations may close soon.
