In October 2021, the euro area’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.3%, down from the 7.4% rate recorded in September 2021 and from 8.4% in October 2020.

The EU unemployment rate was 6.7% in October 2021, stable compared to September 2021 and down from 7.5% in October 2020. These figures are published by Eurostat, the office statistics of the European Union.

Eurostat estimates that in October 2021, 14.312 million men and women were unemployed in the EU, of which 12.045 million were in the euro area. Compared with September 2021, almost 77,000 people joined the workforce in the EU and 64,000 in the euro area. Compared with October 2020, unemployment fell by 1.650 million in the EU and by 1.564 million in the euro area.

The euro are is facing steadily growing inflation since January 2021. The rate of annual inflation of the euro zone hit 4.9% in November, against 4.1% in October, 3.4% in September and 3.0% in August, according to Eurostat.
