Car and bus traffic resumed on the Crimean bridge, damaged on Saturday morning by an explosion, announced the head of the Crimean Republic Sergey Aksyonov.

“The movement of vehicles on the Crimean bridge has begun. At the moment, the traffic is open to cars and buses with the passage of the full inspection procedure,” Aksyonov wrote in his telegram channel.

The official asked truck drivers to plan the route using the Kerch ferry crossing. According to him, in two hours the ferry “Kerch-2” begins to run through the strait.

The movement on the bridge was resumed in reverse mode.

Representatives of the police said that from Kerch only 10 cars are allowed to enter the bridge at intervals of 10-15 minutes.

The Russian Ministry of Transport previously reported that the launch of automobile traffic on the Crimean bridge is possible in one lane in reverse mode.

On the morning of October 8, a truck exploded on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge, fuel tanks of the railway train caught fire. The Russian Federal Investigative Committe opened a criminal case. According to preliminary data, three people were killed – passengers of a car driving near the exploded truck.

According to the Crimean authorities, two spans of the roadbed of the branch, which goes from Krasnodar to Kerch, collapsed due to the blast wave. One car line – from Kerch to Taman, preliminarily, is intact. The condition of the railway tracks was not reported.

The movement of trains on the bridge resumed in the evening.

Train No. 28 from Simferopol and Sevastopol left at 17:10 Moscow time to Moscow through the Crimean Bridge, reported the carrier Grand Service Express. Train No. 8 from Sevastopol to St. Petersburg departed at 17:15. It will also follow the Crimean Bridge. In addition, “Grand Service Express” resumed the sale of tickets for trains to the Crimea and back with departure on October 9.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On strengthening measures to protect the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait, the electric grid energy bridge Of the Russian Federation – the Crimean Peninsula and the Krasnodar Territory – Crimea main gas pipeline during their operation,” reported the Kremlin press service today.

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) has now the legal authority to directly organize and coordinate measures to protect the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait, the electric grid energy bridge of the Russian Federation peninsula of Crimea and the main gas pipeline Krasnodar Territory – Crimea during their operation.
