Renault Russia has maintained the level of corporate sales in the Russian automotive market in 2020 by supplying 7,000 cars for taxi fleets and car sharing, said Jan Ptacek, CEO of the company since November 2019 :

Corporate sales are an important market for us, 22,668 cars were sold in 2020 against 22,640 units a year earlier […]. Sales were mainly in the second half of the year, mostly for taxi companies.”

Renault is one of the leaders in mobility services in the Russian market : 22,668 vehicles were handed over to corporate clients, accounting for 17.7% of sales.

Within the framework of cooperation with major Russian taxi aggregators and companies providing car-sharing services, more than 7,000 vehicles were sold. The most popular models in corporate sales are Logan sedan, Duster crossover and Arkana SUV, reported a press release.

Commenting on the results of 2020, Jan Ptacek said that the entire Renault lineup in Russia is subject to state support programs for demand for cars, which were expanded to stimulate the economic activity amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Renault Russia also announced on January 22 that over 450,000 Renault Duster have been sold in Russia since 2012. This SUV benefits from a geometric cross-country ability and reliability, which made the model so popular. Today it is available for Russian drivers at a price of 912,000 rubles (9 951 euros) for a front-wheel drive version of 1.6 liters in combination with a manual transmission.

The French carmaker will present in the coming weeks a new generation of Renault Duster.

Renault does not just sell its own models – mostly produced at a factory in Moscow under its label since 2005. It mainly controls the leading Russian automotive manufacturer AVTOVAZ (LADA brand), headquartered in the industrial city of Togliatti. The AVTOVAZ factory is one of the largest in the world with 300km of production line and a production capacity of 650,000 vehicles per year.

Through it and the Alliance with Nissan and Mitsubishi, Renault was controlling in 2020, directly and indirectly, 37 % of the Russian car market.

Renault and AVTOVAZ have strengthened their ties since 2008. Since January 2017, AVTOVAZ has been consolidated in the accounts of Renault Groupe while LADA, AVTOVAZ’s own brand is now the Renault Group’s 5th brand alongside Renault, Dacia, Renault Samsung Motors and Alpine.
