The companies of the Russian RMK Group have summed up the results of the mining division for the first half of 2021. More than 41.6 million tons of ore were mined in Q1 and Q2 of 2021. To achieve this result, 7.5 thousand employees of the company worked daily in mines and quarries.

The mining division of RMK Group is made of 11 areas, where mining is carried out both by open and underground methods. In Russia, RMK Group mines the Mikheevskoye deposit, the Tominsky and Kalinovsky quarries of the Tominsky deposit and the Chebachye mine are located in the Chelyabinsk region, and the Dzhusinsky and Vesenny mines are located in the Orenburg region. In Kazakhstan, RMK Group mines he Kundyzdy, Priorskoye, Limannoye, 50 Let Oktyabrya deposits and the Aralchinsky mine.

RMK expands each year its mineral resource base. In 2021, preparations are underway to develop five more fields, reported the corporate communication.

Aleksey Gordeev, Mining Director of RMK, commented : 

“To date, promising projects of the mining division of RMK cover two countries and three Russian regions. One of the most ambitious is the Malmyzhskoye field in the Khabarovsk Territory, which is currently being prepared for development and the construction of an enrichment plant. The construction of underground mines has already started at the 50 Let Oktyabrya deposit (Republic of Kazakhstan) and the Vesenny area (Orenburg region). Capital mining is underway at the Limannoye deposit in Kazakhstan, and a decision has been made to develop the Tarutinsky copper deposit in the Chelyabinsk region. “

Since 2004, RMK Group has mined more than 300 million tons of ore. Today, the average grade of copper in ore processed at the factories of the Russian RMK ranges from 0.32 to 2.88%.

In recent decades, the demand for copper in the world has been steadily growing. The red metal is currently trading around $ 9,420 per ton ($ 9,423 on Friday 27 August at official close), against $ 6,788 on September 1st, 2020, and $ 4,684 on March 16, 2020, its annual lowest price.
