Rostec corporation reported that the first serial passenger aircraft MS-21-310, equipped with fully Russian made systems, successfully performed the first flight from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant UAC. The machine spent 83 minutes in the air, reaching an altitude of 6 km and a speed of 600 km/h according to instruments.

The crew checked the stability and controllability of the liner in various modes of operation of Russian-made onboard systems. The flight mission was completed in full, the aircraft performed well, the state corporation noted.

“The successful flight of the serial board allows us to state the readiness of production chains for the serial production of machines of this type,” the company noted, “in particular, the first batch of 18 aircraft.”

Currently, the certification process of the Russian aircraft is underway: the MC-21-310 has already completed more than half of the planned flights under the test program. “Also, the plant can already start fulfilling new orders approved by the government,” Rostec added.

On April 29, 2025, Rostec announced the first test flight of the MS-21 with new Russian systems: domestic avionics, power supply systems, air conditioning and others were tested. This flight kicked off factory development tests.

At the end of May 2026, the first MS-21-310 was assembled using serial technology.

The completion of certification flights and the start of serial production of the MS-21-310 are scheduled for 2027, the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said earlier.

The flight range of the “shortened” version of the MS-21 aircraft – MS-21-210 – is expected to exceed 5 thousand km, the head of Rostec, announced Sergei Chemezov.
