Next week, the Supreme Court of Russia will consider the appeal of the Yabloko party against the decision to cancel the registration of its federal list in the elections to the Russian State Duma.
“The Supreme Court of Russia accepted for consideration the appeal of the Yabloko party against the decision to cancel the registration of its federal list of candidates for deputies of the State Duma,” the court told Interfax press agency on Friday.
On August 17, the appeal of the Rodina party will be considered. As specified in the Supreme Court, Yabloko’s complaint will be considered at the same meeting. The court session will be held in an open mode for listeners.
On August 10, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation satisfied the claim to cancel the registration of the list of candidates from Yabloko for the elections to the State Duma. The Rodina party filed a lawsuit.
During the trial, representatives of the plaintiff said that during the submission of documents and campaigning by Yabloko, “violations of intellectual property, copyright, violations of the legislation on countering extremism and (violations) of financing were committed.”
A representative of the Central Election Commission said that the commission received information from Rosfinmonitoring about foreign funding of some candidates.
“The response of Rosfinmonitoring: in the period before the election campaign, in July-August 2026, there is information that the federal list includes persons who received foreign funding,” the CEC representative said. So, some representatives of the party received funds from the United States, Germany, the UAE and a number of other countries.
Yabloko did not receive funds from foreign sources, the money was transferred as donations from Russians, who, in turn, received these funds from abroad, said party lawyer Haji Aliyev.
After the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the party announced that it would appeal the decision. And the deputy chairman of the CEC, Nikolai Bulaev, said that so far this will not entail any changes in the ballot, since the decision has not entered into force.
Yabloko—officially the Russian United Democratic Party “Yabloko”—is a Russian liberal and social-liberal political party founded in 1993 as an electoral alliance. Its name means “apple” in Russian and comes from the surnames of its original leaders: Grigory Yavlinsky, Yuri Boldyrev and Vladimir Lukin. It became a formal political party in 2001.
Yabloko is one of Russia’s oldest democratic opposition movements. Its programme supports political pluralism, competitive elections, an independent judiciary, stronger local government, private property, a socially oriented market economy and institutional checks on executive power.
