The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was in Austria for an official two-day visit. He met with the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in Vienna. Discussions have been held in a closed mode for the press.
Earlier, Sergei Lavrov held talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. Both sides discussed bilateral international issues of mutual interest.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz appreciated the talks with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In a post published on Twitter, Chancellor Kurz said that the parties raised the topics of the pandemic, Afghanistan, Belarus and relations between Moscow and Brussels :
“It was a pleasure to meet the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Vienna today. Our talks focused on the joint fight against COVID19, Afghanistan, Belarus, economic, civil society and cultural cooperation as well as relations between the EU and Russia.”
Austria and Russia hold close relations and work together on common interest issues in Europe. Austria regularly calls for improving the EU position regarding Russia and for easing the economic sanctions.
